INVITATION TO TENDER: ?STAY CONNECTED?

IT SUPPORT PERSON

INTRODUCTION

Wicklow Dementia Support CLG (WDS) is seeking tender submissions from
an IT person for its ?Stay Connected? project. The aim of this
project is to develop virtual means of engaging with clients with
dementia and family carers to deliver support and activities.

CONTEXT

Wicklow Dementia Support CLG (WDS) , a charity based in Co Wicklow,
with the help of its trained volunteers, provides individualized
support to people with dementia to maintain their identity and
interests and enable them remain living in their homes; alongside with
respite to family carers, enhancing the quality of life of both the
person with dementia and their family carers.

It does this through the provision of a number of services

* AlzPal is a befriending service where a person with dementia is
supported by a trained volunteer to continue engaging in activities
they enjoy once a week for two hours.
* Meet and Eat is an eight week social eating programme, where a
trained volunteer visits a person with vulnerabilities e.g. cognitive
disease, recovering from illness, socially isolated, and plans, shops
and prepares a meal with the client, and they eat together once a
week.
* Alz Social Clubs provide the person with dementia and their family
carer an opportunity to come together for activities, a chat and a cup
of tea once a week in Bray and Greystones
* Musical Memories, including the Dementia Choir, is an opportunity
for people with dementia, family carers and volunteers to make music
together. It takes place once a week in Greystones.
* Carers Support groups are held once a month in Greystones and
Bray. A Bereavement group is also available once a month. See

The ?Stay Connected? project seeks to enhance the way WDS service
users and volunteers can connect with each other and explore ways
technology can support the person with dementia to have occupation and
for them and their family carer to continue to engage in activities
and interests from their home.

THE ROLE

WDS is seeking an IT person to assist them

* develop virtual ways of communicating, delivering activities,
providing one to one support and identifying online resources to meet
the interests of service users.

It is envisaged that this will require the person to:

* Identify software (free online resources were possible) to support
virtual communication, deliver activities, facilitate the interests of
service users
* Trial the different software identified and provide step by step
instructions on how to use.
* Ascertain the learning requirements of volunteers and service
users for using the software and meet their needs through training and
mentoring.
* Set up and adapt devices including Tablets purchased for the
?Stay Connected? project to meet the specific needs of client
group and demonstrate their use.
* Provide step by step written instructions on using the devices
appropriate to the intended user
* Advice and support WDS to pilot the ?Stay Connected? project.

The person should be able to proceed on a self-employed/consultancy
basis. The person will report to the Chair of WDS Board who will
provide regular management and support.

In undertaking this project, the person will need to engage with WDS
clients. WDS coordinator will arrange for the person to have access to
clients with their consent.

TIMESCALE AND BUDGET:

The successful applicant must be in a position to begin the work not

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Submissions must clearly demonstrate the person?s understanding of
the requirements of the brief and must include:

* Details of the person and his/her relevant experience (awareness of
dementia an advantage)
* Proposed project plan, outlining actions, outputs and timescales
for each element
* A breakdown of costs including number of days/hours ?
daily/hourly rate inclusive of VAT.
* Insurance Details
* Tax Clearance Access Number
* Example of previous work
* The names and contact details for two references for similar work
undertaken. Contact may be made with these referees as part of the
assessment process.

CRITERIA AND ASSESSMENT

Each tender application will be assessed on the following:

* Experience: Proven experience in setting up IT support to meet a
specific client group needs
* Methodology: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the
tender brief; the quality of the proposed methodology for achieving
the objective; evidence of competence to complete the work in the
agreed timeframe
* Cost: breakdown of cost, value for money.
